This is one of a series of English lessons based on the theme of astrology. They are designed to teach you vocabulary, and especially personal descriptive adjectives. If you were born between March 21st and April 19th, then your star sign is Aries. The symbol of Aries is the ram. Aries element is fire. Aries modality is cardinal. Aries polarity is positive or masculine (yang). Aries ruling planet is Mars. The lucky stone for Aries is the diamond. This English lesson will help you understand the vocabulary used to describe people in general and Aries in particular.

Whats the difference between Horoscope and Astrology?

Horoscope is supposed to b fake right?

Horoscopes are generalized paragraphs about the signs on websites, and in newspapers and magazines. They apparently tell your fortune and future details in order for you to plan accordingly, but in my opinion and most others in this section, Horoscopes are complete garbage. There is a way to forecast in astrology…but not the way typical horoscopes are.

Astrology is a pseudoscience, some say it’s an art, some say it’s strictly a science. I look at it as a more imganative and creative personality test. Just instead of ENFP, or sanguine, choleric, etc – we say sun, moon, rising, etc. Astrology is really only useful when you have your full birth chart. Basing things solely on the sun sign (which is what most people know and why they discredit it so much) is a pretty shallow way to look at astrology.

Barbara Goldsmith describes the planetary configurations for the next two years and how they are likely to play out in world affairs. The opposition of Saturn and Uranus – the old versus the new. Pluto has just gone into Capricorn and already we are seeing the effects: attacks in Mumbai, serious natural distasters…..yet there is also hope as well. Jupiter in Aquarius will be with Obama for the first year of his presidency – so the people will be hoping and trusting in him. If he delivers on his campaign promises all will be well. If not, then the people will lose faith in him.
These are exciting times to be alive.

All of my relatives think studying astrology is such a waste of time, but I love analyzing natal charts and compatibility….how could my interest in astrology translate to a more "respectable" field?

Psychology, sociology, and physics all tie in closey to astrology. In fact, much of modern astrology is based on psychological concepts for delineations.

i find no sense in religion but i find so much truth in the zodiac, so is my religion astrology? or something or am i an atheist that belives in astrology? the only thing that cant be proven that i belive in is astrology so what am i?

Insufficiently skeptical.

I am working on an astrology chart for the first time, and want to know what it means when a house has no planets. Does this mean that I attribute the ruling sign of that house (ie, if the house is ruled by Cancer) to answer the questions. I have three houses with no planets, and trying to figure out what this means. Thanks!

You describe the general circumstances or attitudes about the house to the sign ruling it. This goes whether occupied or not. When there are planets, these modify those attitudes or point to situations or people who will interact in this house. Look to the ruler of the cusp sign for more detail about the house.

How did each form (Vedic, Mayan, Chinese, etc) originally develop their systems of astrology?

Did they write down correlations somewhere and compile them?

It’s shrouded in legend.

Hermes Trigistemus is mentioned.

I believe it came about through visionary and shamanic inner work, personally.
